we had a positively perfect weekend at the Sherburne Inn.Susan and John Daniels could not have been more welcoming, yet, at the same time respected our privacy. The inn is charming and lovely and their presentation of a breakfast basket at the door in the morning truly beyond words. We simply have no need to ever look elsewhere for any subsequent visits to Nantucket which we hope will be soon!

What a truly delightful weekend we spent at the Sherburne Inn. This Inn is positively one of the most charming places I have ever been lucky enough to stay at, and I do prefer an old style inn rather than a large modern hotel.
Our innkeepers were very warm and inviting while showing us privacy and respect at the same time, as well as concern that our neighbors had not had too much fun through the night. No worries Susan, we did not hear a thing!
The continental breakfast was by far the best of the best. To open our door and see that picnic basket covered in a cloth napkin with bowls for fresh fruit, sweet breads, beautiful glasses of orange juice and yogurt, as well as abundant coffee/tea/hot chocolate available in the parlor made it a pleasure to start each day of our island adventure!
We were able to walk to many of our destinations, and there were even umbrellas in an urn by the door for that rainy Sunday when we were leaving.
Thank you just does not do justice for the amount of sheer relaxation I was able to obtain this on this magical island weekend.

This Inn is the essence of Nantucket – it’s got charm written all over it with very tasteful decor. We particularly enjoyed relaxing on those comfortable beds with ironed sheets! We’ve never slept so well. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and intend to return often! Dave Ross

Relaxing and Accomodative with a great location!

“First visit” to Nantucket, lucky us- we chose “first class” Sherburne Inn!
Room 8 was great! So was the basket breakfast and sherry in the afternoon.
A warm, airy, historic home with multiple porches and livingrooms. In town walking everywhere.

The bonus was the Inn’s website and Innkeepers that helped with what to expect before the trip and conscientious people that more than followed through.

Location, location, location! The Sherburne Inn is centrally located in the downtown area of Nantucket, walking distance from shopping and some of the best restaurants I’ve ever dined at, but tucked away on a quiet, residential street. Our room was on the bottom floor, nicely decorated and quaint just as it’s shown on the website’s photos. Unlike some places where website photos are not an accurate reflection of where you’ll be staying, you know exactly what you’re in for! The breakfast is delicious, consisting of fresh fruits, yogurts and breads and the rooms are kept perfectly. Susan, the innkeeper is SO sweet and SO helpful and even offers a 20% on ferry tickets when booking your stay. While visiting the island, my boyfriend and I rented a scooter and rode to the beaches. I couldn’t believe how crystal clear the water was. If you choose to vacation in Nantucket you won’t be disappointed. Whether you’re looking to relax on a beach or dine and bar hop, Nantucket is great for families, couples of all ages and singles! You are sure to meet friendly people during your stay to make your trip all the better.

As a native “New Englander”, I try to visit as many of my local communities as I can – after all, this is the magic of New England in that we have the opportunity to be near the shore, in the woods, up in some mountains, lakeside, or in the heart of some spectacular cities – all without much travel required & just a little coordination. Nantucket Island (and most definitely the hosts of the Island (this is for all of you running your businesses – in season most particularly) simply require that you bring yourself, and be prepared to get lost in another …simpler world.

The beauty of this spectacular dot in the ocean is that it remains pure to itself, and it has no need for those that need to be loud just because they can be. I hear some folks muster up a complaint or two about the pricing on the ferry for vehicles – I say, why mind it if it keeps the vehicles out – less is really better! Of course, each time I go I’m convinced I will immediately move there & become a resident, and I don’t know of a single resident there who wants intrusive vehicles invading their clean little island any more than there is now. Besides – walking, biking, or scooters are so much better, and Nantucket’s bus transit service is fantastic, easy, & fun – besides being environmentally conscious. Every inn-keeper is cordial, helpful, willing to help you discover the Island without getting in the way. Having been in the seasonal hospitality business myself, I am always impressed with the patience & true sense of hospitality that those who work on the Island represent to us visitors.

Among many things, Nantucket is a place for finding a quiet spot to yourself, people watching, fabulous & creative food to satisfy any palette, and the best sleep of your life. I mean this last part, the sleeping – quite simply, there is something about the salt air, the constant background of the ocean around you, the idyllic throw-back to true New England characteristics, the understanding that when you go to the island, everything else just goes away for a while – you will rarely sleep more soundly & wake up breathing fresher air. I have not been to a single inn on Nantucket that was less than charming, and certainly the Sherburne Inn is at the top of charming. I believe that an Inn should capture your heart, leave you feeling like it was your own place, and make you a little sad when its time to prepare to pack up to leave. In fact, the best Inns I have ever been to have always had one thing in common – there is a little voice inside me that says “If I had an Inn it would be just like this”…..

Visiting the island is a gift, and this has never changed for me – each trip there has been unique, not long enough, and left me feeling of wistful. While I do not get back often, I often do go back at least in my memories and just for a moment, I’m able to be there with a smile and maybe even a tear drop for the best of times spent in the past – on an Island called Nantucket, where no one can find me.

Our recent two-week stay at the Sherburne Inn was absolutely perfect. The Sherburne is on a quiet street only one block from the shops and restaurants of Nantucket Town. Our room was spacious and charming. Breakfast was provided in a wicker basket by our door each morning, and cookies and sherry were available when we returned each evening. Clean, folded beach towels (and beach chairs) were provided each day when we left for the beach. And the central air conditioning, a rarity on Nantucket, provided cool and quiet sleeping conditions. The proprietors, Susan and John, were exceptionally warm and welcoming; they provided a wealth of information about Nantucket, helping us to enjoy the best of Nantucket.

We stayed at the Sherburne Inn the weekend before Christmas. Overall we had a wonderful stay on Nantucket thanks to the inn. The house was festively decorated, complete with a Christmas tree right outside our door. Susan was warm and friendly but allowed us our privacy. The room and bed were very comfortable and even though the room was warm, we were provided a space heater in case we needed a little more heat. It was a very relaxing weekend and we were appreciative of the breakfast basket and cookies every day. On the day of our departure there was a snowstorm and Susan was kind enough to let us know our options to leave early so we could get back home before all the ferries were cancelled. We’d enjoy coming back again when the weather is warmer and the island is bustling.

We visited the inn for a weekend during the holidays, and it was great! The house is beautiful and we felt right at home with the festive decorations. The room was comfortable and clean, and the inn keeper was so welcoming and kind. She was great about making us feel at home, and happy to make suggestions about restaurants and things to do during the “off season”. We will definitely visit again!
